Hand Building One to One

A little about your teacher…

Emily has been teaching hand-building for over four years, offering a calm, supportive space for students to slow down and explore clay with intention. Whether in one-to-one sessions, small group classes or lively team events, her workshops focus on ancient hand-building techniques that celebrate texture, simplicity and personal expression.

A published author on ceramics, Emily brings both deep knowledge and a relaxed, approachable teaching style. Her background in 3D design and years in the creative industries shape her eye for form and function, while her passion lies in helping others reconnect with making. Expect imperfect beauty, muddy hands, and the quiet joy of creating something from nothing

One to One Hand Building With Emily

£100 per person - 2 hours

add an additional person for £60 (2 people total)

A relaxed, private session tailored just for you. In this 2 or 4 hour one-to-one class, Emily will guide you through the foundations of hand-building or help you create a specific piece you’ve been dreaming of—whether it’s a sculptural vase, candle holder, or something completely your own. You’ll learn traditional slab, pinch, and coil techniques at your own pace, with plenty of space to ask questions and explore your ideas in clay.

Private tuition offers the fastest route to progress, enabling focused attention on the areas that matter most to you.

At the end of the session, you can choose to have up to two of your pieces professionally trimmed, glazed, and fired - ready for collection as lasting keepsakes of your creative journey. Alternatively, you may wish to book a follow-up session to learn how to trim your leather-hard pieces yourself. Your glazed and fired work will be available for collection or postage 3-4 weeks after the lesson
