Stephanie Webs.
Stephanie comes to ceramics with a background in architecture, a discipline that continues to inform her approach to form, structure, and detail. Her practice bridges the precision of architectural design with the expressive, tactile nature of clay, resulting in vessels that feel both deliberate and deeply human.
She creates simple yet elegant pots, bowls, plates, cups, and vases—each one thoughtfully made and quietly expressive. Her work is characterised by clean lines, balanced proportions, and a strong sense of material integrity. While her forms are carefully considered, they retain a softness and warmth that speaks to the hand-built process. Stephanie often works with clay bodies that contain iron speckles, which interact with her glazes in subtle and unpredictable ways. She embraces these natural variations and sometimes deforms or carves into her pieces to introduce texture and visual rhythm, allowing the clay to speak for itself.
Detail is central to Stephanie’s practice—whether it’s the angle of a rim, the feel of a foot ring, or the way a glaze breaks over an edge. Her work reflects a quiet curiosity and a respect for the process, celebrating the beauty of small decisions and slow craftsmanship.
