Rachel Hampson.

Influenced by the natural beauty of the Staffordshire Moorlands and the landscapes of South-East Asia, where she lived and worked in the 1990s, Rachel creates wheel-thrown stoneware that is both functional and a pleasure to use.

Originally from the Staffordshire Moorlands, Rachel Hampson grew up near the Potteries and has deep family ties to the region’s ceramic heritage. She is a co-founder and Operations Director of Stable Yard Pottery.

Rachel's earlier career spanned over a decade as a Chartered Surveyor in both the UK and Hong Kong, followed by more than 20 years as a Director of a recruitment company specialising in the property sector. In recent years, she made the transition from corporate life to working with clay full-time.

Her journey into ceramics began eight years ago, developing her throwing skills at Ricky Grimes Studio, and later at Turning Earth and Stable Yard Pottery. In 2022, she became a studio technician at Turning Earth in Highgate. Rachel now sells her work at local craft and ceramics markets as well as through her Etsy shop.
